​​In this module you will bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and the business world.

​You will investigate the theory of entrepreneurship and explore how market research shapes business decisions. This will allow you to develop the skills to plan and present a viable scientific venture.

​You will working through topics including:

  • ​business risk
  • ​financial modelling
  • ​critical evaluation

​You will build the practical knowledge needed to assess whether a business idea is feasible, scalable and sustainable.

​You will work independently seek out information to support your ideas. You will also develop both written and presentation skills across the module.

​What you will learn

​In this module, you will:

  • explore the theory of entrepreneurship and what drives successful enterprise
  • carry out market research to evaluate the feasibility of a business proposal
  • develop and refine a business idea, including financial modelling and risk assessment

​By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • critically evaluate the characteristics of an entrepreneur and the theory behind enterprise
  • conduct structured research and develop a formal business plan
  • assess the viability, scalability and feasibility of a business proposal​

  • ​​Critical evaluation of entrepreneurial characteristics (40%)
  • ​Individual or group presentation of the business idea (20%)
  • ​Individual or group viability report (40%)
